Half-inch
for Clarinet, Cello and Piano
DURATION: c. 3mins
COMPLETION DATE:
REVISION: 2105
The cockney rhyming slang Half-inch, meaning steal (to “pinch”) inspired the creation of a short, virtuosic piece of Clarinet, Cello and Piano.
The work is centred around the idea of cutting off parts of musical section of time (known as a measure, or bar). Half-inch wears its emotional engagement and musical meaning on its sleeve and aims to offer, at least for a short while, a high level of engagement, excitement and exhilaration to its players as well as its listeners.
